I wrote the lyrics for this on Father's Day 2016. You can hear the original demo at the very end of the song. I wrote that about 3 years ago, not long after Lila Jane was born, but never finished the song until this year.

On this day on father's day in 1975

Fast forward to a time, a couple years from now
And then rewind to find the reason
In the where and what and how
The woman brought the very best out of you

Watch her hold the babies
When the thunder makes them cry
Hear her tell them that she loves them
And you'll wonder why it took so long
To get here from that day in 1975
